From the Congregational Yearbook: HILL, JEssE, was born April 3, 1868, at Sirhowy, Wales. When but a few months old he came to this country with his parents, who settled in PennSylvania. His father, Rev. George Hill, was an active Congregationalist minister, serving churches in Pennsylvania, Michigan, Indiana and Ohio. He was educated in Wyoming Seminary and Oberlin Theological Seminary, graduating from the latter Institution in 1893. He was ordained to the Congregational ministry at Rootstown, Ohio, May 16, 1893, which church he served from 1893 to 1896. After successful pastorates at Wakeman and Medina, Ohio, from 1893-99, he was called by the Williston Congregational Church of Portland, Me., of which church he was active pastor at the time of hil death, which occurred Jan. 14, 1915. ?? was both a strong preacher and a diligent and earnest pastor. He was Moderator of the Ohio Congregational Association in 1907. Received the degree of D.D. from Bowdoin College (??.), 111 1912. Was married to Mollie, A. Evans, at Ebensburg, Pa., May 23, 1893, who, with three children survives him.
