Narrative
Speculative as to father of our John Smiths -- Russell family genealogy says that John of Taunton was the son of Richard Smith.
Henry Smith Came from, England in 1637, bringing his wife Elizabeth and his two eldest sons. He settled in Dedham, where he was burned out in 1641, as we learn from the records of that town. He came to Medfield in 1651-52, and took up his house lot on South Street, at the foot of Mr. Wilsons field. He seems to have had the confidence of his townsmen, as he served them on the board of selectmen thirteen years.
