Narrative
On first tax list of Walpole and original member of First Church 1730. It has been speculated that James was grandson of immigrant William Barden, through Stephen Barden Abigail Williamson, and this still appears in many online genealogies. The birth records of Stephen provided a tempting 3 yr gap between marriage and first Middleborough child (followed by kids every 2 yrs). BUT DNA testing strongly refutes a direct 2-gen linkage
